In collaboration with the Winston County NAACP and Voters League, Lawrence Sangster has organized a Get-Out-To-Vote Rally just prior to the critical November 3, 2020 Election. The Rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Louisville Coliseum on Ivy Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Men are asked to bring lawn chairs, practice social distancing and wear face masks. Men of all ages, but no younger than 16 years, Black, White, Red and Yellow are the targeted audience.
The following speakers have been invited: Attorney Rod Hickman, Noxubee County Prosecutor, Representative Kabir Karriem, MS District 41, Representative Carl Mickens, MS District 42, and Rev. Marc Fomby, CEO of FTC Prevention Services. A few topics to be discussed are: Voter Suppression, Disenfranchising Crimes, the Expungement Process and Absentee Voting. Music by D.J. Sam I AM, a personal testimony and various entertainers are on the planned agenda for this historical event. There will be an opportunity for on-site voter registration, as well.
This Rally is a Call to Action to foster and increase community participation, use the power of our voices at the ballot box and become a more informed and empowered electorate.This election is the most logistic and complicated of our time, due to its many challenges. These challenges are organic like COVID-19 and some man-made like attacks on the United Postal Services, foreign interference, and misinformation and disinformation, to name a few. The purpose of this Black Lives Matter-#Men Rally to VOTE is increase voter turnout and to create a community of men who will be informed, inspired and encouraged to become more involved in the political process, especially voting.
