East Central Community College in Decatur will hold tryouts for the 2020-21 Cheerleading Squad from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 4, in the South Campus Gymnasium.
There is a $25 fee for all participants.
Pre-tryout clinics will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. March 30-31 and April 2, also in the South Campus Gymnasium. During these sessions, participants will learn the cheer, fight song routine, and stunts necessary for tryouts. Those wishing to tryout must attend at least one clinic.
Those selected for the squad receive full-tuition scholarships.

A Drum Major Informational Meeting will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, in the Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The program will be presented by Natasha Murphy, an MSU Ph.D. student, focusing on a citizen science project involving red-tailed hawks. She wants nature-lovers to learn more about hawks - how to identify them, how they are being banded, etc. Part of the project involves volunteer road-side surveys of hawks and reporting marked birds (wing tags, color bands). Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the program so that participants can enjoy further visiting and shopping in the Nature Store.

Bluebirds are actively shopping for new homes - and we want to help your children or grandchildren provide one for them! Or you too! Volunteers will be on hand to help construct a birdhouse from pre-cut pieces. We only have about 30 kits, so first come-first served will be the rule for who gets one! Your bluebirds will appreciate your effort. This has been a popular activity and lots of fun. The event is free but donations will be accepted. (Thank East Miss. Lumber Company for the donation of lumber!!)

With Bluff Lake re-opening to humans on March 1, this will be the first free canoe/kayak day for the season. (During the winter months, the water birds get top priority!) ECCC Rush Invitational Baseball --UPDATE
All Friday and Saturday baseball games in the Rush Invitational on the East Central Community College campus in Decatur have been cancelled. There could be three games on Sunday, will update as information is available.
UPDATE: The ECCC Baseball team will host East Mississippi in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex on the campus in Decatur. These games are in lieu of the rained out Rush Invitational.

Tax Forms Available at Library
Free State and Federal Tax Forms are now available at the Winston County Library. The free Federal forms and Instruction booklets are the 1040 and 1040-SR. All other Federal forms can be downloaded and printed for 20 cents a page.

Classes being offered include Accounting I, The Legal Environment of Business, Human Growth and Development, Career Exploration, College Study Skills, and Introduction to Sociology.
East Central is also offering an eight-week Spring Intensive Term II Online, also beginning March 9, with a deadline to register of March 10. See all the courses available on the myEC link at www.eccc.edu.
