Upcoming Refuge Events

Thursday, March 5
6:30 pm - Visitor Center
Noxubee Nature Series
The program will be presented by Natasha Murphy, an MSU Ph.D. student, focusing on a citizen science project involving red-tailed hawks. She wants nature-lovers to learn more about hawks - how to identify them, how they are being banded, etc. Part of the project involves volunteer road-side surveys of hawks and reporting marked birds (wing tags, color bands). Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the program so that participants can enjoy further visiting and shopping in the Nature Store.

Saturday, March 7
10:00 - noon - Visitor Center
Bluebird House Workshop
Bluebirds are actively shopping for new homes - and we want to help your children or grandchildren provide one for them! Or you too! Volunteers will be on hand to help construct a birdhouse from pre-cut pieces. We only have about 30 kits, so first come-first served will be the rule for who gets one! Your bluebirds will appreciate your effort. This has been a popular activity and lots of fun. The event is free but donations will be accepted. (Thank East Miss. Lumber Company for the donation of lumber!!)

Saturday, March 21
10:00 - 4:00 - Visitor Center
Free Canoe/Kayak Day
With Bluff Lake re-opening to humans on March 1, this will be the first free canoe/kayak day for the season. (During the winter months, the water birds get top priority!) There are lots of interesting things to explore out on the lake - come join the fun. Life jackets for all ages/sizes are available.

Dues are still being accepted if you've not joined us or renewed from last year! You can pay by check, credit card or paypal. See our website for more details: https://friends-of-noxubee-refuge.org/membership/
